2048 is a single-player sliding puzzle game created by Gabriele Cirulli in 2014. It quickly became a worldwide phenomenon thanks to its elegant simplicity and satisfying number-doubling mechanic. Players slide numbered tiles on a 4x4 grid, combining matching tiles to reach higher and higher numbers. Your score increases by the value of each merged tile. Merging two 2s adds 4 to your score, two 4s adds 8, two 64s adds 128, and so on. Higher-value merges are worth exponentially more points. The key to high scores is creating chain reactions — setting up the board so one move triggers multiple merges. Scores of 20,000 or more indicate expert play.
